It all begins with an idea.
But for me, it began with an obsession.
My Story
From the moment I got my first mobile phone, my passion for visual arts started to grow somewhere deep inside of me. It started without me even knowing of course. From changing my wallpaper layout to finding different screen savers and then later on experimenting with the camera.
Fast forward a few years later; aged fifteen, I get my hands on the coolest smartphone I’d ever seen. An LG G6. One of the first phones with a wide lens. I started showing off to the standard iPhone and Samsung users because of course they had never seen anything like it. And that’s where photography became a hidden obsession.
I started experimenting with my newest secret passion locally and occasionally around London. And of course I thought I was the best unknown/underrated photographer in the world but I guess everyone thought that at one point.
After a couple of years using that phone for photography, I upgraded to the OnePlus 7 Pro which at the time was one of the best phones for mobile photography and this was the biggest reason why I obsessed over that phone.
Later on, I started my first Instagram page called Ramja Art. I know, what a creative name. I started mainly doing photoshop artworks such as surrealism and my own take in photo manipulation. Creating dreamy scenes and fairytale like photos out of the photos I would capture with my phone.
Fast forward to December 2022, I purchased my first Pro Camera from Amazon. It was the Sony A7ii. It took me 2 days to actually make the decision of purchasing it because I was rather unsure of the expense. I didn’t do much research on which camera brand to go for seeing as one of my all time photography heroes was Garrett King aka Shortstache and at the time he had a Sony A7iii so I automatically thought that if I wanted my pictures to look like him I obviously needed the same camera. Although I couldn’t afford the A7iii, I thought the A7ii would be the closest thing to it. However, to my surprise, even with that camera, my pictures were not looking like Garrett!
When I first unpacked that camera, I felt like the proudest 21 year old alive. A childhood dream coming true. But shortly got disappointed to find out that I didn’t understand a single button on that camera…
After a whole year of consistent practice, I then decided to upgrade to a Sony A7iii and it really felt like the biggest milestone reached. Another year and thousands of pounds later, I now own 2 G-Master Lenses and a bunch more gear that I never ever thought I’d own. But most importantly, a huge and continuously growing love for the craft which just keeps developing and evolving each and every day that goes by.
I look forward to my future as a photographer and I cannot wait to see where this journey takes me.
